The Merlin is an emotionally riveting short-form documentary about four women falconers in Montana. It’s much more than a film about falconry. It examines the pressures of being a woman in our modern world and how we cope with those pressures. This project illuminates the multi-faceted stories of the women falconers, challenging stereotypes, while also celebrating the profound human need for community, mentorship, and passion. Highlighting the importance of a powerful connection between people and the wild. That wild may very well reflect the wild within us all.
